I am from the Great Pacific Northwest of the US and currently live in Belgium. How I ended up here is a long story but ends in my marriage.
As far as me is concerned...I love things are decaying,abandoned or basically a ruin. Creepy is cool. Goth is fab. Old rocks. Flowers are awesome (thanks Daddy) You get the idea.
Since I live in Belgium there is more than enough to go around. But, that being said...I do also like life in motion,arts,colour and whatever else strikes my fancy.
About the Doel 2020 project that is current project(amongst others): Doel,Belgium is a small,little village being threatened with total destruction just because it happens to be in the way of the Port of Antwerp. This has been ongoing since the late 1970's and as of late coming to head as recently 2009. In the village's heyday 3000 or so souls called it home. Today, less than 50 families remain. Those families solider on,remaining, to take on the Belgian gov't. It remains to be seen if,finally, the village can be rebuilt and renewed. The street art that covers most but not all of the village came about around 2007/08 after the village was mostly abandoned. I say mostly because folks do remain.
